Our purpose, at In Caring Hands, is to provide the highest quality assessment, care and treatment to the people who use our service. Whether in the community or in our specially adapted respite home in St Austell, we strike a balance between facilitating independence and giving appropriate support for every client, along with social interactions and fun activities!

Our staff are carefully picked by our experienced management team, to ensure that everyone has compassion, empathy and a sense of humour to enable us all to work together to ensuring that every client’s needs are met.

Location

In Caring Hands has three registered premises, the Respite Centre in St Austell, our administrative HQ in Gerrans, on the Roseland peninsula and an administrative base in Wells, Somerset. There is a small meeting area at the Gerrans and Wells offices, for clients and their representatives to meet with us by appointment, if they wish. We do not provide any care services at our offices, they are purely administrative.

History

In Caring Hands Limited was incorporated in 2015, and achieved CQC registration in 2016, for community social care and specialist care in central Cornwall.

In our earlier days we identified that there was a need for respite provision to care for young adults (18+) with PMLD as the majority was only available outside of Cornwall or were unsuitable environments.

Obviously, this was less than ideal, either for the young adults with disabilities, or their families. So, in 2018 we found and bought a suitable bungalow to convert into a respite setting.

In May 2019 our dedicated respite home for young adults with PMLD opened in St Austell. People come to visit our four themed rooms for a couple of nights at a time, or whole weeks, or regular patterns of respite to give their carers a break.

We continually work to improve the respite centre, adding facilities, working on the sensory garden, and more, to ensure the best possible environment and experience for the young adults who come to stay with us.

Our dedicated community care service for adults and children with PMLD launched in 2020. Our visits are tailored to suit both the individuals and their family, according to their specific needs.

In February 2023 In Caring Hands began their expansion into Somerset and acquired an office in Mendip Court, Wells. From this location we will be providing community outreach support for individuals of all ages with a profound learning disability.

In September 2023, we gained registration with CQC to provide personal care for individuals of all ages who have a learning disability.
