* If you are new to the care sector, the following definitions might be helpful for you:

Personal care involves washing, dressing, toileting, and support to help the person carry out personal grooming tasks they can’t manage on their own. It could also include applying cream or ointment, or changing dressings. See the list on the Personal Care page for more details.

Light domestic duties includes such tasks as laundry, light cleaning, washing up and tidying the kitchen, making the bed, and other small daily tasks in the home.

Outreach working means going out with the person you’re caring for. This might be a walk in the local area, going for tea and cake in a café, taking them to the cinema or for a visit to a local attraction. Different people will enjoy different activities, and you will help them be safe, and enjoy their time outside their home.

Companionship is obvious – you chat with the person you’re caring for, find out how they’re feeling, listen to their stories or hear about what they watched on TV earlier, find out about them, and share a little about yourself. View Job Description
